My Funny Bunny

MFB-poster-edit.compressed-page-001Our next shadow puppet play, My Funny Bunny,  follows the story of a 9 year old girl who, after waking up at midnight, discovers her big sister (Bunny) gone from bed and is compelled to find her, even if it means venturing into the ominous woods outside her house. Inspired by the Silly Symphonies of the 1930s & 40s (specifically Hells Bells, Spider Motel, and that one everyone recognizes with the dancing skeletons scaring the skin off cats) as well as classic horror, My Funny Bunny explores the darker side of shadow puppets.

Director Jade Young has been working with BooTown for the past year but this is her first directorial role.

“Working on past puppet shows with BooTown I have always thought that the medium would be a perfect way to bring (or drag) the audience through a spooky narrative. I also want to experiment with ways to get the audience more involved in the show, make them feel a part of it,” Young said.

In other words, audiences should be prepared for an immersive, eerie experience. Past BooTown puppeteers Mauricio Menjivar and Amanda Marie Bell are joining Young in the build process. Joe Wozny (White Raven, Turtle Turtle, Death and a Rollercoaster) will return to provide a (spooky, duh) original score performed live during each show.
