Lani and Troy: When 50 Eggs Aren’t Enough

Lani and Troy: When 50 Eggs Aren’t Enough is a blend of a Benshi show and the film Reality Bites. Benshi is a form of Japanese storytelling in which a silent film is played while the actors provide dialogue, commentary, music, and interpretation. Reality Bites is an awesome coming-of-age movie from the nineties, AND it’s placed in HOUSTON. Yea!

In choosing this particular story to tell, BooTown’s Associate Artistic Director Lindsay Burleson says, “All of my friends, everyone I know, can relate to the arcs of all of these characters, especially those who are spending or have spent their 20′s or 30′s in Montrose. The greatest theme that everyone can relate to is relationships.”

The play will be performed at Rudyards British Pub, the home of BooTown’s monthly Grown-up Storytime series. Translation – that means you can drink and eat while watching the show!

“This type of show doesn’t come around very often, for whatever reason. It combines film, theatre, and music in one. It’s a new thing to be judged. The audience can’t expect it to be like anything they have ever seen before. It will be real, it will be funny; but, most importantly it will attempt to tell a story that most people can relate to,” Burleson says.
